| Cardiovascular disease is the major cause of mortality and morbidity of type 2 diabetic patients. Recently, it has become clear that insulin resistance and vascular dysfunction play an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. In this session, four prominent researchers will give a lecture about the insulin resistance and vascular dysfunction. Professor Zhenqi Liu from University of Virginia has worked on the insulin action and cardioprotection in diabetes. He will present about the insulin action and resistance in the microvasculature. Professor In Kyu Lee from Kyungpook University is one of the representative researchers on the field of vascular biology in the diabetic complication. He will lecture on the insulin resistance and strategies to suppress vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation. Professor Kyung Mook Choi from Korea University has reported many papers about the various adipokine and hepatokine in the patients with diabetes. He will give a lecture on metabolic syndrome, adipokines and vascular inflammation. Professor Ki Hoon Han from department of cardiology in University of Ulsan has had an interest on the lipid metabolism and cardiovascular disease. He will deliver a lecture on lipid particles which are more athe rogenic in (pre)-diabetic condition.

| 심혈관 질환은 제2형 당뇨병의 이환율과 사망률을 올리는 주요 질환으로 최근에는 인슐린 저항성과 혈관의 기능이상이 동맥경화증의 주요한 기전으로 알려지고 있다. 이 세션에서는 인슐린저항성과 혈관합병증에 대한 소주제를 가지고 4분의 연자를 모셨다. University of Virginia 의 Zhenqi Liu 교수는 인슐린 작용과 심혈관 질환의 예방에 대해 연구하고 있으며, 이번 강좌에서는 미세혈관에서의 인슐린 작용과 저항성에! 대해 발표할 예정이다. 경북의대 내분비내과의 이인규 교수는 당뇨병성 혈관 합병증 분야에 있어 우리나라를 대표하는 연구자의 한 분으로 인슐린 저항성과 혈관 평활근세포의 증식을 억제시킬 수 있는 전략에 대해 강의할 예정이다. 최경묵 교수는 당뇨병 환자를 대상으로 다양한 adipokine 이나 hepatokine에 대한 많은 논문을 발표하고 있으며, 이번 강좌에서는 인슐린 저항성, 대사증후군 환자를 대상으로 adipokine과 혈관 염증에 대한 강의를 할 예정이고, 한기훈 교수는 심장내과 교수로 지질대사와 혈관질환에 대한 많은 연구논문을 발표한 바 있으며 이번 강좌에서는 인슐린 저항성으로 인해 발생하는 이상지혈증의 어떤 지질입자가 더 동맥경화증의 발생에 관련 있는지에 대해 강의할 예정이다. |

| As you already know, microvascular complications are commonly found in patients with type 2 diabetes. Microvascular complications include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy and diabetic neuropathy, and can have a devastating impact on quality of life and place a significant burden on health care costs if undetected or left untreated. In addition, diabetic microvascular complications can reduce life expectancy. In this session, four speakers are will discuss microvascular diabetic complications. Dr. Park from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology will talk about diabetic cardiomyopathy, and Dr. Kono from Kyoto Medical Center will discuss the diabetic foot problem in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Thomas from Australia will present early markers for the detection of diabetic nephropathy and new therapeutics for its management. Dr. Sone will share recent data suggesting that HbA1c variability is a risk factor for microvascular complications in type 2 diabetes. |
| 제2형 당뇨병 환자에서 미세혈관 합병증이 잘 발생하는 것은 주지의 사실이다. 당뇨병성 망막병증, 신증, 신경병증으로 대표되는 미세혈관 합병증은 발견하지 못하거나 치료하지 않을 경우 삶의 질 과 의료 비용 면에서 막대한 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 기대수명의 감소를 가져온다. 본 시간에는 4인의 발표자가 당뇨병성미세혈관합병증에 관하여 발표할 예정이다. 광주 과학기술원의 박우진 선생님은 당뇨병성 심근병증을 미세혈관이상 관점에서 발표 할 예정이며, 쿄토 메디컬센터의 Kono Shigeo 선생님은 아시아 태평양 지역의 당뇨병성 족부질환의 문제점을, 호주에서 오신 Thomas Merlin 선생님은 당뇨병선 신증의 조기 진단 표지자와 신증의 새로운 치료법에 관해 발표할 예정이다. 마지막으로 일본 쯔쿠바 대학의 Sone Hirohito 선생님은 미세혈관합병증과 당화혈색소의 변동성과의 관계와 위험인자로서의 사용에 관해 발표할 예정이다. |
