| Robert Roy Henry is now a professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism at the University of California, San Diego. He is also currently President, Medicine & Science of the American Diabetes Association and is a member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, the Obesity Society, the Endocrine Society, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Edinburgh, and the American Federation for Clinical Research.
He has written about 200 original articles and co-authored more than 100 invited articles and book chapters. His current clinical research interests involve new therapies for type 1 and type 2 diabetes and obesity, and his basic science interests include the metabolic and cardiovascular effects of human muscle and adipose tissue secretory products, signal interactions between skeletal muscle and adipose tissue and defects of insulin signal transduction in these tissues in obese and type 2 diabetic patients. At this symposium, Professor Henry will give a presentation titled, “New agents in the development of therapies for type 2 diabetes,” which will detail recent research trends, changes in treatment and prospects in diabetes.

Robert R. Henry 교수는 현재 San Diego 대학의 내분비내과 교수로 재직 중 이시다. 현재 미국 당뇨병 학회 회장직을 수행하고 있으며, 또한 유럽 당뇨병 학회, 세계 비만학회, 내분비 학회 등의 여러 학회의 회원이시다.
학문적으로는 200편 이상의 원저 및 100편이상의 종설 및 교과서를 집필 하셨으며 현재 주요 임상 연구로는 제1형 및 2형 당뇨병, 그리고 비만의 새로운 치료제 개발이다. 기초 연구로는 근육과 지방조직에서의 분비되는 cytokine이 대사 및 심혈관계 미치는 영향, 근육과 지방간의 상호 신호전달 체계, 그리고 비만 및 제2형 당뇨병에서의 인슐린 신호전달 이상을 연구하고 계시다. 본 심포지움에서는 ‘제2형 당뇨병의 새로운 치료법’에 대해 강의가 예정되어있다. |
